The new decade is here, and you're probably expecting me to
encourage a fresh look to kick things off. Well, I definitely believe a new
style is a great way to start a new year. However, maybe you're not quite ready
to make a drastic jump... so let's start with baby steps.
- Begin with analyzing your bathroom
cabinet. Are there products you haven't touched in six months? Throw them out!
If you aren't using them, why have the extra products cluttering your
bathroom?
- Don't forget to look at those brushes.
Full of hair and never used? You know where they need to go.
- And now you have an empty cabinet... no
worries, we're on to the fun part, updating your tools.
- If it's in your budget, purchase a flat iron and paddle
brush. My two favorites are the ghd flat
iron and a Denman brush. Both tools will give you several options for styles: a flat iron can give smooth hair or a little bend and a Denman brush or any
other paddle brush is great for volume while preventing pulling and breakage.
- Select three products for your day-to-day needs: a shampoo, conditioner and styling product. They should all be in the same product line since they work
better when used with the correct, corresponding products. By now you know that I always suggest getting
advice from a professional. So pop into your local salon or a Sassoon for guidance.
- Buy multi-use styling products. You want a product that can fulfill several of your hair's
needs with one application. I know I've mentioned this before, but Kerastase
Ciment Thermique is always a favorite. It protects during the blow dry while
giving lift and shine.
- Last, all the great products and tools
in the world can't make your hair look fab if you don't have the
foundation of a well-structured cut. At the very least, book an
appointment to get those split ends taken off and shape added to your
hair. Even those of you with long hair... you don't have to lose much length
to get big results.
Combine all these steps and you'll be ready to face 2010
with your best hair yet! Have other questions? Please don't hesitate to leave a
comment or direct message me on Twitter @SassoonSalonUS.
