Editor's Blog: Surviving and Thriving

It’s the focus of numerous upcoming stories at PINK – in the magazine and online. We’re talking about it at our upcoming events too. Few are immune to the effects of this recession. Here at PINK, we are also taking steps to shore up business and operations, to cut costs and stabilize the balance sheet. These decisions are not easy ones to make. But with every challenge comes an opportunity.

The current economy is forcing organizations large and small to be more innovative. Many we’ve talked with (including American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, ExxonMobil, Lennox and Ernst & Young) have already come up with smart new programs that not only are saving dollars, but also are protecting the environment and improving morale!

We’re working on similar endeavors here at PINK. You’ll notice when you see your next issue. We’ve reduced the size of the magazine, thereby cutting costs, saving trees and enabling you to fit your copy more easily into your briefcase. We, like so many others, are working to meet market needs while holding true to our purpose: to empower women to find greater success in work and in life.

In keeping with this, we’re about to offer our very first digital issue of PINK magazine. You can have a copy too! For free! Just click here to sign up now. We’re also expanding our events series in 2009, and we’re working with companies and women’s business organizations to offer bulk copies of PINK for their employees and women-focused events.

You can help! To show your support for women in business, make sure your friends and colleagues – and your company – have subscriptions. (Click here to give gift subscriptions and here to learn more about bulk copies for your company.)

In being creative and supporting one another, we not only will survive but also thrive during these tough times.
